Compare measurements without guessing stretch
Record relevant garment dimensions using a defined method: chest and body length for a top, or waist, rise and inseam for pants. State whether an elastic measurement is relaxed or stretched. Do not compare a stretched maximum with a relaxed reference and call the two sizes equivalent.
Keep the intended underlayer or outer layer in your notes. A fitted base layer and a loose training jacket should not share an unexplained fit target. If the seller supplies a chart, save the correct version and ask what the measurements describe.
Separate appearance from performance
Visible checks can cover seams, panel placement, closures, labels, included pieces and an obvious defect. They cannot demonstrate moisture management, compression level, UV protection, abrasion resistance or how a garment behaves during exercise. Record such statements as claims requiring relevant evidence.
List practical details that matter: pocket position, fastening, lining, drawcord, reflective element or removable component. Ask whether the selected variant includes each one. Keep protective equipment and specialist safety claims outside a casual clothing comparison unless suitable independent evidence is available.
Worked example: define the missing stretch information
Example only: your reference training pants have a 36 cm relaxed flat waist. A candidate lists 36–44 cm without saying whether that is a stretched range or a recommended wearer range. Ask for the chart convention. Matching the first number alone does not prove equivalent fit or comfort.
Before following the CSSBuy shop workflow, keep the resolved measurements and the exact variant together. Record item and packaging weight when known rather than assigning all sportswear a generic shipping weight.
- Write the activity and intended layers.
- Define each elastic measurement.
- Do not turn a photo into a performance certificate.
Common questions
Can QC photos establish technical sports performance?
No. They support visible checks, while technical performance requires relevant testing or specifications.
Does a stretched waist measurement predict comfort?
No. The method, construction, activity and personal preference all matter; keep the measurement context visible.
