1. Keep the original before editing anything

Copy the complete link from the source and save it with a plain-language item description. Keep the date, visible seller label and selected version if available. If a share message contains text as well as a URL, identify the URL rather than treating the whole message as an address.

Avoid repeatedly shortening or rewriting a link until you no longer know which item it represents. Keep the original in your CSSBuy spreadsheet and put any working alternative in a separate field.

2. Distinguish item identity from option identity

An item page can contain several colours, sizes, lengths or versions. A link that opens the right page may still leave the wrong option selected. Record the exact option text and, where visible, its separate identifier. Do not assume a screenshot of the default option represents your intended purchase.

If the item identifier is visible in the original address, preserve it. Use the page description and option record together when asking for help; a bare number without context is harder to check.

3. Name the failure you can observe

Write down what actually happened: the source page did not open, a sign-in page appeared, the agent could not import details, the option was missing, or the displayed amount differed. Those are distinct observations. They do not establish the same cause.

CSSBuy's official Buy For Me guide describes pasting an item URL and an alternative manual-information route. If automatic details are unavailable, use the current official guidance and ask for help rather than inventing a product description or copying a different item's price.

4. Recheck details before you continue

Compare the imported title, images, selected version, currency, quantity and any minimum quantity with the source. Keep a mismatch unresolved until it is explained. A readable page is useful evidence that the page opened, but it is not a guarantee of seller inventory, permitted shipping or return conditions.

Example only: a source page shows a three-piece set while an imported view appears to show one piece. Record the discrepancy and ask what the quoted option includes. Do not silently multiply or divide the displayed amount to make it look consistent.

5. Send a focused support note when needed

A useful draft says which source you used, which option you want, what you observed and what answer would resolve the issue. Include a screenshot only when it helps show the discrepancy, and remove unrelated private information before sharing it.

For an existing order, CSSBuy's service page directs order questions to the relevant My Order record through Add Note. The CSSBuy shop guide explains the surrounding workflow once the source and option are clear.

  • Save the original URL and the checked date.
  • Record the chosen option in words.
  • Describe the visible failure without assigning an unverified cause.

Common questions

Does a broken link mean the seller has no stock?

No. It may be an access, parsing, redirect or other issue. Keep the actual observed error separate from an availability claim.

Can I replace a failed link with a similar item?

Only if you deliberately choose a new item and recheck its seller, variant, measurements and terms. A similar photograph does not make it the same product.
